Hold onto your goat because the Balkanology team is back to bring South Africa another music first. Balkanology – Greek Mythology will showcase Serbian band Shazalakazoo and their fresh new Balkan folkstep beats, guaranteeing South Africa’s party set another chance to go wild, Balkan style, when they play sets in Johannesburg on 11^th June and Cape Town on 15^thJune. Get on the boat – this will be a journey through a whole new musical extravaganza.

Why Greek mythology? Well you might not realise it but yes, Greece is in fact part of the Balkans. And after great Balkan weddings, waking the beloved dead and most-recently bringing over the Balkan Beat Box to smash up the party scene, Balkanology now provides you the opportunity to connect with the ancient Greek Gods. What better way to pay respects to the great battling Titans and Olympians than with the a band that merges electronica, drum ‘n bass and folk, mixing modern technology and classic instruments like the violin and clarinet. The new and the old. The great and glorious. All combined with a few fun surprises in a melodious rhapsody designed to have you bouncing through the night.

Amongst the performers to round off this ecstatic sound explosion is Nomadic Orkestar and the law-defying talents of Toby2Shoes, a man who’s seen Balkanology grow from a turntable and a tuba in a backyard chicken coup in Western Belgrade to the vast music scene it commands today. When the moon starts dropping the beats will only get more crazy.
