Little Light Blue is the latest project from Capetonian Jaco Loots (Oceans & Cities). He has already released a full length album entitled “What We All Use To Imagine”, released on 28 June as a digital download. Jaco classifies Little Light Blue as electronic, rock pop, acoustic, experimental which kind of sounds like a bit of everything… in reality it is a mixture that takes you on an ambient journey from downtempo all the way to some dubby sounds too. It is well worth the listen… Grab it below:

A kind man from Muzikology B.V. sent me this awesome pre-release. Dutch producer Don Diablo teams up with UK rapper Example for this one, set to be released soon (on 29 June 2009 I believe)! Here’s what the press release had to say:

Don Diablo and Example team up for their joint effort “Hooligans”, which is set to become the mosh pit anthem of 2009! On remix duties: Noisia, Spor, A1 Bassline, Doorly and the main man Don Diablo himself. Make sure you grab your copy of “Aerodynamic Hooligans” as well, which is a mash-up Don Diablo did of his Hooligans track with elements of Daft Punk’s “Aerodynamic” and yes, you know it will work like a MoFo on the floor! Long time electrotrash friend Richard the Third has just finished working on his upcoming album Third World From the Sun. The good news is that you will be able to get most of it via MTN Xploaded (not live yet) and you can listen to some of the tracks on his Facebook page.

However, as a favour to us he sent us the dirty disco banger “Dancing with the DJ’s Girl” featuring the Tutus (and Desmond). The track features that sexy deep bass that we love along with the unique and catchy vocals of Desmond or is it his Tutus? They only way of getting the full album which includes this track is to go to one of his gigs and beg him for a copy of the album at the DJ Booth.

Hipless Couples (Nabbed off the Daydream Nation Facebook group)

I have been really slow in getting this post up! A while ago Len Cockraft aka Hipless Couples dropped a track in my inbox. The track is called “Just FFFuck” and it’s a pretty hard hitting, banging electro track.

Len used to be the drummer for the band “The Wild Eyes“, I was a big fan of them, so for me it is awesome to see someone from the band releasing some electro fun! Len is also involved in the Daydream Nation parties that have been taking place at The Assembly in Cape Town. I’m sure you will be hearing more about this swinger in the coming months!

Jacob Israel, a self-taught electronic musician from Pretoria, has been producing music since 2000. So far, he has released two albums, “My Paper Nautilus”(2005) and “Birthright”(2008) and he’s currently working on a second release for this year.

He has collaborated with SAMA award winners, Lark, to produce a remix for them on the release of their debut EP. Additionally, Jacob’s also done remixes for kidofdoom and produced for spoken word artist, Ajax. In 2006 he was featured in SL magazine as a highlight for Oppikoppi and has received much praise for his two releases in several reviews.

He worked with Louis Minnaar to produce “Henri”, an animation that won the M-Net Edit Award for Best Animation 2007. His music video for “Her Narnian Horse Analogy”, produced by Louis Minnaar, has been officially selected for the Imago 2008 film festival.

This year, he started “Chrisus” (www.chrisus.tv), an audiovisual company with Ola Kobak, Louis Minnaar and Corne Roodt.

Jacob is currently working on new multi touch audio performances and he loves to stay up until the wee hours of the morning, burning his retinas to create novel and wonderful gadgets for stuff.

After years of searching, unplanned plans emerged. Being tired of hearing the same songs with the same formulas, music with more politics and trends than notes in their music, all of this couldn’t possible be within the majority of music in our country. There could be no salvation in a business like that.
So Oceans and Cities emerged.
This music has no face.
This music isn’t about trends and fashion.
These songs don’t complain or embrace.
There are no words, you already know them..
These songs echo with your own voice and thoughts.
And it will always be in progress, moulding and shaping the sound, feeding it till there is no more space left and you are left with something.
