Rise Up with Don Diablo & Sidney Sampson

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Our regular readers may have noticed that things have been slow of late. This is not due to a lack of content, we’ve actually got a bit of a backlog going on here at ET HQ, but the real world is keeping us much busier than foreseen. No matter, after some reshuffling and what not, we should be back to business as usual…

Anyway, back to the music. Our dutch buddy Don Diablo is releasing his latest project, Monster EP, on May 8th via Beatport and iTunes. Together with Sidney Sampson he has produced 2 “monster tracks”.
Promo snippet:

Holland’s globetrotting Hooligan producer, DON DIABLO, teams up with SIDNEY SAMSON of ‘Riverside’ fame to deliver the already much sought after ‘MONSTER EP’, which consists of two massive weapons of dancefloor destruction, ‘Monster’ and ‘Rise Up’. The ‘MONSTER EP’ has already found earlybird supporters in Pete Tong, Rob Birch (Stereo MC’s), Zombie Nation, Infadels, Jack Beats, Tocadisco, Tom Stephan, The Crystal Method, Utah Saints, Aston Harvey (Freestylers), MJ Cole, NT89, Kraak & Smaak, Lee Mortimer, Bad Boy Bill, MistaJam (BBC 1Xtra), Steedlord, Jason Nevins, Larry Tee, Beni (Kitsune), and many many more.

Red Bull Studios Cape Town, Electric Roundup: Popskarr feat. Gazelle

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Both Popskarr and Gazelle are no strangers to Electrotrash. They are rather regular features, definitely two of the most prolific flag-raisers for local Electro. And certainly Gazelle is no stranger to the Red Bull Music Studios often popping in to collaborate with various artists and work on his much anticipated upcoming album. What you may not know is that pretty much all of Popskarr’s stuff was and still is being recorded at the Red Bull Music Studio. This collaboration was one of the most epic from last year, and the track itself a culmination of hundreds of recorded takes from singers Xander and Yannick. The title of the track, “Obsession” explains it in a nutshell: the feelings for someone that mutate from genuine love into something far more out of control.

Popskarr feat. Gazelle - Obsession

Rather than feature a Red Bull Music Academy Radio show this week, I will direct you all to the Red Bull Music Academy website, as the Academy has been in full force in London for a week now. When I was at the Academy in Rome 6 years ago (and believe me I’m not dropping props for myself, I have a point), the likes of Goblin, Alexander Robotnick and Daniel Baldelli were speaking. I had no idea who these cats were, little did I know that they were of the main driving forces behind the scene that I would later embrace and the likes of Justice (who wholesale sample Goblin on “Phantom”) would not exist. My point is the Red Bull Music Academy guys are way ahead of the pack. So when you look at the list of lecturers you don’t often pick up on who the names are but you better pay attention.

As I walked into the Academy today I saw that the first lecturer of the day was DâM-FunK. Only a week ago Spoek Mathambo got me onto this guy, whose soul / funk / electro sound on Stones Throw sounds like Prince, Peanut Butter Wolf and Afrika Bambaata in a freaky menagois a trois. Who knows what other forward sounding ish is going to surprise me next. Keep your eyes peeled to the site: http://www.redbullmusicacademy.com/london

dirtyoldman here. The guys from Popskarr also sent us another track entitled the finish line. Grab it below!

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

We’ve  been having quite the busy time IRL, which has led to a slight neglect of our inbox. This track is one of those that got lost amongst our starred and labeled mails (thanks gmail!). I’m not an 8080 after all or just INA808AA for short is reminiscent of acid house, with the bassline synth working its’ little oscillators off! You know the deal, clicky clicky below to get the track.

I’d Fulka

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Fulka is Ola Kobak, who with the help from a few friends creates soft, delicate, melodic, electronic folk music. The first track out is Misunderstood which is a beautiful, lo-fi track which features banjo, a touch of vintage synth and that awesomely synthesised drum sounds courtesy of Roland and the 80’s. Look out for more tracks right here, but in the mean time grab Misunderstood below and check the artist page for more info!

HAEZER has finally decided on the winner of the Crack In The Wall Remix Competition!

The winning entry is the Chains remix! Check out the Top 5 post for all of the entries! CONGRATULATIONS from all of us at electrotrash! HAEZER had this to say about the competition as well as the winning entry:

“After listening to all the remixes over and over and also playing to peers and management I’ve finally come to an answer.

Although I love all the remixes in the Top 5 I decided on the Chains remix for it’s originality and creativity.

I would like to thank everyone that took part in the comp and hope you get all the blog love and exposure you deserve for the remixes… and even though I chose Chains I’ll definitely drop the other remixes in my sets as well.

Props to everyone that was involved in this comp, especially electrotrash for all the support and good luck to all the producers for 2010… keep up the good work and banging tracks.

peace
e”

Biscope give the boot to Sub Focus

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

The boys of Biscope add their own special touch to the track ‘Rockit’ by Sub Focus. In their own words it is a

proper distorted wobble remix of arguably the biggest D&B tune of 2009.

Grab the bass-heavy, bitchin’, boot below!

Grab the track below… it is has a haunting, synthpop’ish melody that I couldn’t stop whistling and when combined with their indie vocals it’s a pretty rad sound!
